IN-PERSON CLASSES
Printing with a gel plate opens up a world of opportunities for artists, card makers, scrapbookers and art journallers. Gel printing can be done with a range of art materials and found objects. Join me to learn a variety of ways to use a gel plate and create a stack of prints you can turn into cards, collage and works of art. Participants will need to bring their own gel plate and brayer to the class.
Please bring the following: Gel Plate*, soft brayer*, 6″x 6″ detailed pattern stencil or larger
Optional but helpful: paper of different kinds (printer, tissue, rice paper, kraft paper, book or music pages), acrylic medium body paints, extra stencils, high contrast glossy magazine pages
*I recommend Gel Press brand of gel plates and Speedball soft rubber brayers

Come join me on an art journal adventure. In this workshop we will create a textured backdrop for butterflies, birds or flowers in the Dina Wakley white 6″x 6″ media journal. No previous skills required as we will approach the blank page together and experiment with collage texture, colour value and doodled die-cuts. If you have wanted to start an art journal but didn’t know where to begin, this workshop is for you. If you are an avid art journaller looking for inspiration and community please join us.
If this is your first episode, that is not a problem. Please note in addition to the class fee you will need to purchase the Art Journal Adventure Kit which includes the journal and supplies for your first and future workshops! Classes are coming back to Riverside! I have missed the camaraderie of the Riverside regulars. We are starting small with just one Monday class in July. It will be a chance to reconnect and make decisions about fall and winter classes. We are returning to a favourite technique of mine, making watercolour backgrounds using a range of techniques. Once we have a little collection we will turn a few into cards using stamps and dies to add focal elements and sentiments.
Please bring the following: adhesive, paper trimmer, water spritzer, 2 water jars, 1″ flat watercolour brush, plastic or glass craft mat.
Optional but helpful: MISTI or stamp positioning tool, heat tool, die cutting machine, dies you would like to feature on finished cards, distress inks or watercolour paints

Hi I also would love an online class and from Wisconsin in the USA. I know the cost is more plus getting the money there and the cards back here is expensive and take awhile but I might try it at least once to see.

Hi Shirley, I will be including some of the new Slapstick cling stamps in upcoming classes starting either March or April.
Look forward to them! I will keep an eye open for the April classes. I will be driving from Toronto and since March weather can be unpredictable it will be safer for me to think April. I attended two of your classes at Bizzy B’s in Toronto a year or so ago. Unfortunately as you probably know Bizzy B closed last summer.

Just attended another fabulous class with Heather. For this class she showed us how you can make stunning backgrounds/cards using only 3 primary colours of brusho watercolour powders. The results were wonderful, and now I can go back to my old stamps and use them in many different ways. If I come away with 1 good idea from a class I think it was well worth it, but this class we learnt numerous ideals thus making the class priceless. I have already signed up for her next class!

Just attended Heather’s latest class making bright and colourful cards using Darkroom Door stamps. We had a great time and the cards we made-Priceless! I would highly recommend taking one of her classes. I live in Belleville and the drive to and back is over 6 hours, but it is totally worth it. If you are from out of town, grab a friend, stay over night and have a fabulous girl’s weekend in Ottawa!
