Classes update
Posted: April 21, 2017 Filed under: Classes, Darkroom Door, Penny Black | Tags: Classes, Darkroom Door stamps, Penny Black stamps 7 CommentsI’ve been busy with classes lately including one in Toronto where I had a wonderful time with some delightful artists and crafters making watercolour cards. I’m hoping to head back there to teach before too long.
Here in Ottawa I am in the middle of Brushstroke Blooms classes using some gorgeous Penny Black stamps. There are spaces in tomorrow’s Saturday morning class and Monday’s afternoon class. If you are interested go to my Classes page.
On May 6th, at Aunty Em’s Scrapbooking store in Cornwall I will be teaching the Brushstroke Blooms class pictured above and the Watercolour Resist class shown below. Contact the store for more details.
On May 11th & 12th at Crop A While store in Orleans and May 13th & 15th at Riverside United Church in Ottawa I will be teaching the Floral Festival class pictured below featuring Darkroom Door stamps. Contact Crop A While to sign up there or click over to my Classes page to sign up for a Riverside class.
Thank you to all of you who support my classes, I love meeting you and creating with you. To those who are waiting patiently for online classes, do not give up hope! I want to supply some as soon as I can.
Three northern scenes
Posted: December 13, 2016 Filed under: Classes, Stamped Landscapes, Woodland Beauty | Tags: Classes, Penny Black stamps 15 CommentsI recently taught a card class where we created Christmas cards featuring the northern lights over snowy landscapes. Everyone’s scenes looked different as there was a variety of inks to choose from. Back in the planning stage for the class I created a few different scenes as I worked out what would work in a class setting. (I have to make sure I can reproduce my own techniques if I am going to have any chance of teaching them to others.)
The top card and the bottom card were experiments that didn’t become class samples and the middle one was a variation I did during class. They all happen to use the blue and plum colour scheme. The two above have masking fluid snow flakes and the one below a bit more definition in the mountains. Sometimes my experiments end up as class projects, sometimes they become recycling and, sometimes as the case was with these three they join my stash of cards to use as needed. These ones really should have been sent already to arrive at their destination by Christmas.
Have you sent all your cards yet? I’m not even half way there.
Supplies
Stamps: woodland beauty, yuletide wishes, joy filled
Inks: versafine onyx black (Tsukineko), chipped sapphire and seedless preserves distress stain (Ranger)
Paper: hot pressed watercolour papers (Fabriano), blue and plum shimmer cardstock
Also: masking fluid
Happy Birthday Crop A While
Posted: September 20, 2016 Filed under: Classes, Crop A While | Tags: Classes 4 CommentsOn Saturday I celebrated Crop A While‘s 3rd birthday along with 60 or so other people.
The celebration was a 12 hour crop complete with balloons, cake, prizes, loot bags and birthday cards.
There was even a surprise wedding anniversary celebration.
I enjoyed teaching a class, catching up with friends and working on a little stack of watercolour panels which will appear on the blog over the next few weeks. The crop was the first off-site crop for Crop A While, but judging from the overwhelming response it could be the first of many!
Summer’s End
Posted: July 30, 2016 Filed under: Classes, Penny Black, Watercolour 4 CommentsNo, I’m not heralding the end of summer, I’m showing a sneak peak of my next class. I teach monthly classes in Ottawa at a rented location and at Crop A While scrapbooking store. You can see the details for the classes I host on my Upcoming Classes page and find the dates and times for Crop A While on their events page.
I receive quite a few requests for online classes which I would love to provide at some stage. Be assured I will let you know here on the blog when I have some to offer you. While you wait I do have a few videos on my youtube channel.
Thank you for your interest and support; I have been so encouraged by the kind and generous comments left here on the blog and on my instagram page also. I am thrilled that you enjoy what you see here and love to hear when you try the techniques for yourself. I am always happy to answer questions if I can, so don’t hesitate to comment or use the contact me option to get in touch.

Busy at Bizzy B’s
Posted: April 26, 2015 Filed under: Classes 8 CommentsLast weekend I was privileged to teach at Bizzy B’s Stamp and Scrap in Toronto.
I taught three different classes, Background Beauty, Stamps Dies & Butterflies and Spring Watercolours.
There were the occasional periods of quiet and concentration but more often chatter and outbursts of laughter. Bizzy B’s is a lovely store with shelves full of all sorts of artistic goodness but one of my favourite features was the pair of ‘husband chairs’ at the front of the store. My husband made use of them towards the end of a couple of my classes after roaming around downtown Toronto.
I had a great time teaching at the store. Thanks Barb, for inviting me and thanks to all the lovely ladies I met in the classes. There are more photos on the Bizzy B facebook page.

A visit to Reston
Posted: June 15, 2013 Filed under: Classes 8 CommentsI don’t have a card today but I have had a day of card making. Teaching card making to be exact. A few days ago my husband, son and I drove to Washington DC to stay with a friend who has attended many a happy class at Angela’s Happy Stamper in Reston, Virginia. My friend Lorraine, Angela and I schemed and planned so that I could come and teach some classes.
I taught two classes today and will teach one again tomorrow. I had a great time teaching some of my favourite techniques and layouts. I will feature the cards here eventually but for now I’d just like to thank Angela, Lorraine, Harriet and all the ladies who attended for making me feel so welcome and for being so very encouraging about the cards and classes.
While I was happily stamping, Andrew and B12 were off seeing the sights. You can check out what they were doing on my other blog.
