Winter Quietude

When I posted a card stamped with the PB ‘quietude’ stamp recently I mentioned I would be making a more wintery looking version. Today I have two different colour schemes featuring snow and an extra tree from the tannenbaum trio set.
In this snowscape inspired by my friend Liz’s love for all things purple, I used speckled egg, dusty concord and black soot distress inks to paint a sky, a lake and snowbank shadows. I stamped the top of the scene first in speckled egg so I would know where to paint the sky then used a paintbrush and smooshed ink to fill the area above the horizon. I dried that then painted the lake area with speckled egg and dusty concord before stamping the trees in dusty concord and black soot inks.
For the colour scheme below I again used speckled egg but with pine needles and chipped sapphire distress inks.
The falling snow on both cards is a result of splattered masking fluid on hot pressed watercolour paper. I splattered it ahead of time and did all the stamping and painting before rubbing it off to reveal all the white dots.

Heather you look precious! I could just sit and absorb all of the ways you played with light on these two cards. Well done…as usual. Did you stamp the Dusty Concord on the trees first and then Black Soot? Beautiful. Blessings on your fundraising for such a life-saving cause!!!

Thank you for the encouragement; it is a bit of a struggle taking a photo of myself everyday for a month! I inked the trees with dusty concord then added dabs of colour with a black soot marker before stamping.

I love these cards! I had to laugh when you said you were going to wear a dress every day in December. Not because I found it funny, but because I own one dress! It was the dress I wore for my daughter’s wedding! I would get pretty tired of that dress and I would freeze to death! LOL
You are not the first person to say they own one dress. I have quite a few and many that I will be wearing are dresses I’ve had for years and have worn during previous Dressembers. I certainly won’t be wearing a different one for each of the 31 days! Glad you like the cards; thanks for taking the time to leave me a message.
I want to thank you for your efforts to help put a stop human trafficking. My daughter is a human rights lawyer whose mission in life has been to help victims of human trafficking. I just had to thank you for bringing attention to this problems and for helping to raise money. The problem is world wide, and exists in all countries, including right here in Canada.
I also want to thank you for posting another beautiful card. You are such a talented artist.
