Floral Mix

I think I told you my one tulip bloomed already but I was still inspired to stamp more. My many lupins are yet to bloom so the idea of a floral mix card appealed to me. I have teamed up Penny Black’s ‘distinctive, ‘fresh spring’ & ‘sweet sprouts’ stamp on this card.
Once again I worked on hot press watercolour paper with distress inks. I usually spritz the stamp lightly with water before stamping then use a paintbrush to blend the inks or dilute them. The inks I used are listed below; I had seedless preserves as the main colour on the tulips and the highlight colour on the lupins. This mix of tulips, lupins and foliage looks really pretty Heather. I haven’t noticed any tulips in bloom yet and as you say it’s a bit early for lupins. The best way here to see them en masse is in the local parks and I think they are beautiful to see at this time of year. x
I saw my first lupin bud in my morning inspection today and I am waiting eagerly for my new alliums to burst open.
Love the tulips you have been posting. Only 1 blooming for you?? Just wait. More beauties will show up. We had some white irises that were stunning.

Over the years I think the squirrels have enjoyed the tulips and there is one hardy one left! My irises in the back yard have buds but I think for the second year in a row the ones in the front yard don’t. I forgot to expose the rhizome before winter.
What a beauty this is using that color combination. Love this technique but it’s always a gamble when I try it. The soft colors of the tulip combined with the seedless preserves lupins really caught my eye. I also love the way you combine your stamps to compose a card.

I have seen forsythia, daffodils, tulips and now lily of the valley in my yard, which is just a bit south of Canada. My gardening style tends to be old fashioned and with wild abandon.
Sounds lovely! I have lily of the valley now too and the irises are showing promise. My style tends to be not very careful and hope for the best!
