Watercoloured Ink Bottles

I’m sure the new ‘pen & ink’ stamp set from Darkroom Door will be a new favourite of mine. There are five different bottles, two pens, four nibs and some labels. You will see it on my cards, in my journals and on my gel prints.

I wanted to end up with a loose watercolour sketch of ink bottles. I worked on hot pressed watercolour paper with distress inks as my ‘paints’. I did not really plan my process at all and realised a few things about the stamps a little late but it turned out fine in the end. Next time I play with these stamps I might try putting the pens in the inks, and creating different colours of ink in the bottles. Ahh, so many possibilities.

By the way there are a couple of new dates for upcoming classes; the details are on my Classes page

Once in a while I see a stamp set that I just know I will get and this set is one. It looks like it offers a lot of challenges and you have suggested so many ways to think about it…the reflected color from one to the other…the “see through” that you hadn’t planned for….and so on. I thank you for this video.
You have captured the bottles beautifully Heather and they really do look like glass and great colours too. Thank you for the video, I always love to watch you work. x
❤️❤️❤️ this stamp set and what you did with it first time out. So looking forward to your next creations with it. Thank you for the video. Really enjoy watching your processes, even unplanned lids. I need to get brave enough to pull out a brush and water with my distress inks.
Oh, Heather! Your creative vision when you work with a stamp set always amazes me! This set is wonderfully fun and what you did with the bottles is magical! I HAVE the little purple bottle (magnesium glass!) and it has charmed me for years with little flower bouquets in it. Your colouring is AMAZING! You captured the translucence beautifully! (I always struggle with painting jars!) THANK YOU for the Video! My 9y.o. granddaughter and I sat up late one sleepover night and sketched that bottle holding a little ‘lawn offering’ bouquet. I think we will try it again with the distress inks! Bless you for the inspiration and beauty you bring to my little world!♥
So lovely to hear from you Clelie. I am thrilled you find inspiration here and I am delighted to hear you and your grand daughter are ‘arting’ together.
Oh my gosh they DO look like empty ink bottles. You painted them perfectly to achieve that illusion! I can’t imagine myself getting that same effect. Love the colors and the loose watercoloring! Love this!
So amazing Heather. LOVE these bottles and recently saw them on the DD site. Might have to go back and buy them. 🙂 Will be watching your video soon! Thank you for that! xx
Gorgeous Heather.. you used these stamps to their purpose I think!
