More masking
Posted: March 19, 2012 Filed under: CAS, Darkroom Door, Penny Black, Wildflowers Vol 2 17 CommentsSurprised? That I would do more masking, that is? I should set myself a challenge one day to make a card that doesn’t involve sponging or masking!
This one is masked but not sponged. I added the colour to the masked panel with a brayer, first the cranberry then the teal. I then stamped a few flowers in teal and cranberry before removing the masks and adding flowers in black. The sentiment does look a wee bit lost on the coloured panel but in real life it is easier to read.
Supplies:
Stamps: Wildflowers Vol 2 (Darkroom Door), …smiling (PB)
Inks: Cranberry Crisp, Taken with Teal(SU), Versafine Onyx Black
Cardstock: Flourishes Classic Ivory
This is another superb one Heather, you should add this to LIM this week too!
I think your colour combination is simply gorgeous!

I love your style of cards. They are all so elegant and work of art! How do you mask your cards?
This is so pretty! What an unusual combination of colors — beautiful! I love the flowers stamped outside the masked lines. What a lovely composition; you’re as good at brayering as you are at sponging! I really like these colors together; they’re so eye-catchingly unusual. Glad to see something so lovely using the “old” SU colors.
Lovely card, fab colours.
Heather, this is just gorgeous as always. I love your choice of colors. I really love your style and wanted to give this technique a real try, so I did this week for LIM. Gave you a shout out on my blog as well. Thanks for the inspiration!
Absolutely beautiful Heather. Simple but stunning. Love it.
This field of flowers has so much intensity. Absolutely love this on the white card base!
wonderful – simple but lovely
So beautiful! One day I might graduate to real stamping, lol! Thanks for stopping by already.

“Less is More”
You’re funny — I’m sure I’ve seen, um, one unmasked card on your blog some time? 😛 But why mess with what works so perfectly for you. These colours are beautiful.

Colours are fab, you make stunning cards.
These colours look stunning together. What a beautiful card!
Beautiful brayer work. After a browse through your blog I can see you are a master of masking and produce beautiful cards 🙂
I’ve had exactly the same thing Heather – I hadn’t realised quite how much I do mask! This is another beauty from you with another gorgeous colour palette. Great to see you show-cased at LiM this week!
Such a great card, well done 🙂 Viv xx
