At Ease

Wouldn’t you love to have a sweet beach hut like this one? To be honest I would love to be at the beach, hut or not! Instead I am enjoying a great summer with just the perfect mix of hot and warm days. The garden is growing and it is great to be outdoors. To celebrate the joys of summer I have teamed up with the Foiled Fox to host a Summer Giveaway.

If you like this beachy theme make sure you pop over to the Foiled Fox blog. I am blogging there today but you can also catch the cute starfish card Shauna posted recently.
I kept things clean and simple for this beach hut card, it wasn’t my first go with the PB ‘at ease’ set; I completed a couple of other panels using more colours and elements in the scene. I think this simple approach is my favourite.

I stamped the hut in soft stone ink and did further stamping with distress inks. I used the salty ocean, rusty hinge and chipped sapphire distress inks to paint the hut, roof and railings as well as the fish decorations.

To add a background I placed some post-its over the hut so I could blend some ink for the sand and water. I used the torn edge of a post it to mask while blending. As I often do I popped up the panel on the same colour cardstock for a subtle ‘shadow’ frame. I added the sentiment from PB ‘enliven’ set because nothing says ‘great day’ to me like a beach themed card!
Make sure to leave a comment below telling me your favourite summer activity. I’ll put you in the draw to win a little spending spree at The Foiled Fox store!

Hiking in the Canadian Rockies!
Sounds wonderful. So far I have only seen the Canadian Rockies from the air!
Relaxing by the pool!
Attending the local county and state fairs. Enjoy seeing all the animals and other exhibits, and the food, especially funnel cakes!
Swimming outdoors is my favorite summer activity.
My favorite summer getaway… Sitting outside on my patio. I dislike our MN winters so much that I try to sit outside every day during “not winter” season provided it isn’t super humid and the mosquitos aren’t too bad.
I feel drawn outside all the time at the moment too. A delightful summer helps me through a cold winter.
Camping is my favourite summer activity as well as gardening.
I love to ride my bike! We have so many biking trails in my little town in Alaska that you can go for miles into the wilderness and it looks different every time!
I really enjoy viewing your creations! This beach scene is so relaxing to look at!
My favorite summer activity is walking on a trail near my home that used to re a railroad line. The summer blooms, scurrying critters, and chirping birds soothe my soul.
We live at the beach year round, so my favorite summer activity is being outside on the deck.
Great card! We love to eat outdoors on the deck all summer long!
Thanks for the chance to win!
Love this beach scene! It reminds me of my brother, who loved the ocean!
I love to care for my plants out on my front deck in the summer! This year, for the first time, I even planted a cherry tomato plant in a big pot on the deck and I am anxiously awaiting some ripe tomatoes!
I love your sweet beach hut and the added fish decorations, and the softly watercoloured background which looks great Heather. My favourite thing is to walk along the beach on a summer evening when most of the people have left and maybe doing a little paddling as the sun sinks and sets…really relaxing with the soft swish of the waves hitting the shore. x
An evening beach walk sounds so lovely, do you have one close by?
Grilling out with friends is my favorite summer activity 🥰
My favourite summer activity is relaxing at a cottage by the lake. I love hearing the loons at night.
LOVE how you’ve watercoloured this fun image, Heather! Makes me want to head to the seaside for a day of fun!! 🙂 xx
I love your beach hut Heather. Its simplicity evokes memories of beach holidays long gone by. My favourite beach to walk along as an adult is Martinique Beach, but for watching the breakers it is Lawrencetown beach, both in Nova Scotia. When we took the children when they were small, they loved Poldhu Cove in Cornwall, England. Happy days!
As always, your summery scenes are both unique and beautiful Heather.
With last summer being mostly spent in isolation due to Covid 19 , of course many normal summer pleasures were halted. This year, topping my list of summer pleasures is spending time with family for relaxing picnics.
