Watercolour pencil cacti
Posted: August 30, 2018 Filed under: Happy together, Watercolour | Tags: Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer Watercolour pencils, Penny Black stamps, Ranger Distress inks 12 CommentsI’ve worked with this stamp before, last time with bister powder to colour it. It took longer with watercolour pencils but the process was quite relaxing. I used my tried and true Albrecht Dürer watercolour pencils from Faber Castell and limited my choices to light green, dark green, light blue, purple and brown.
I stamped the image from the PB ‘happy together’ set in crushed olive distress ink then used a paint brush with my watercolour pencils to add colour. I painted shadows in a mix of brown and purple then matted with some purple cardstock.
Now, help me out here, what is the right occasion for sending a cacti card??
Supplies
Stamps: happy together
Paper: hot pressed watercolour, neenah natural white, purple
Inks: crushed olive distress ink

In the middle of a drought, such as is being experienced here, when most other plants are succumbing to the heat and dry conditions.
Yes, indeed. Maybe the card will end up coming your way!
Heard your stuck in a tough spot…
Or a get well card for someone who’s been in the hospital getting “stuck” with needles?
Both clever ideas!
I’m not usually drawn to cacti, but these are gorgeous! I love that touch of purple!
Once again, you and I are on the same wavelength. I don’t think I had ever put cacti on a card before this cute little line up.
Awesome cacti card! Awesome water coloring, (the watercolor medium for the arid cacti hit my funnybone)
These cacti and succulents are a sweet line up and beautifully coloured with your watercolour pencils Heather. These arid plants are very popular images at the moment. I have been using some lately too. x
Your card is beautiful. Your coloring & shading is perfect.
Hi Heather
I was at CAW on Tuesday and Tom showed me your sample cards for the mini class for their mega crop on Sept. 22. They are beautiful!!! I told Tom that you made mauve for me and blue for you. ha ha.

Hi Heather. I don’t know what the right occasion would be for a cacti card, but I have this stamp and both your treatments of it are superb. I guess it is for any occasion for people who love cacti.
Very cute!
