Birds at night
Posted: February 28, 2013 Filed under: Birds on wire, CAS, Stamped Landscapes 28 CommentsThis card is inspired by a photograph taken by Luz Adriana Villa A and shared on flickr. I saw it on Pinterest.
The sky took a while to build up as I sponged from the outside in, with three blues. I used a little light blue at the beginning, the darkest blue at the end but the majority of the sponging was done with Memento Danube Blue. I positioned the moon mask first and stamped the birds before I did any sponging so that I could vary the depth of colour around the image. After I removed the moon mask I tore little strips out of the sticky part of a post-it note to create a very thin cloud like shape.
Supplies
Stamps: Birds on a wire, Free Flight (PB)
Inks: Memento Summer Sky, Paris Dusk & Danube Blue (Tsukineko)
This is a magical card. With the depth you have achieved. Beautiful! xo, Marian
Ganz phantastisch ist diese Karte. Ich bin begeistert!

Fab monochromatic card! Great sky and moon. I can envision using this technique with many images I have. TFS the details. 🙂

Oh Heather, love all your cards, but this is fantastic.
What fabulous sponging! You’ve created such a haunting scene. The moon is particularly eerie and the clouds you’ve created are simply perfect. I’m wowed by it.
Gorgeous card and fantastic that you can do with with just ink. Wow. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful! i love the wonderful effects that you achieve with ink.
Too good. Loved it very much.

Stunning card.
Love that card!! That is the kind of card I would never throw away and would put it on display!!
Phenomenal – love how you made those clouds over the moon and the disappearing wire, where the birds are sitting on
Wow, gorgeous. What else is there to say?
As always, I’m so fascinated & impressed by your sponging technique (I’m still trying to get it right!). This has such depth & mystery…I think it might be one of your best yet (then again, I’m not sure! . It is just lovely. TFS
Love it! Thanks for sharing:)
Monochromatic yet bursting with colour. Brilliant!
What a lovely combination of image and sentiment! That’s one of the keys to a stylish card! The colour appplication is first class! My Grandfather used to do raised Japanese lacquer work and he tore a paper edge and blew fine powder from it to form clouds….still don’t know how he achieved it! Super card…more involved than first meets the eye! :O) TFS!
So incredibly beautiful with the most perfect sentiment! I love your technique and really appreciate the videos you’ve created.
This is enchanting beyond words, Heather. I’m in awe.
You outdid yourself with this beauty – thanks so much for sharing
