Soft subtle spots
Posted: June 6, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized 1 CommentHere is another card that just grew out of a random idea. I noticed my new circle punch sitting in the drawer and decided to punch out some holes and use it as a stencil. I sponged with Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink and realised that I need to turn it into a baby card. As you can see there isn’t much to the card, some spots, a word and some ribbon, it’s all in the co-ordinating colours.
Supplies:
Stamps: Hugs and Wishes
Inks: Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink
Cardstock: Whisper White,Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink
Also: Pink and Blue gingham ribbons, 1/2′ circle punch
Black, white and green
Posted: June 4, 2008 Filed under: Boho Backgrounds 1 CommentSharon issued another great stamp simply challenge last week at No Time to Stamp. We had to complete our project using black, white and one other colour. I chose Certainly Celery. This was one of those cards which just evolved as I stamped. After I stamped the background stamp from Boho Backgrounds it made me think of a piece of dress fabric so I added a ‘sash’ and a ‘buckle’. Once again I found a sentiment in the rub-ons. It is worth buying the rub-ons just for all the extra words and greetings.
Supplies:
Stamps: Boho Backgrounds
Inks: Black
Cardstock: Whisper White, Black, Certainly Celery
Also: Cherished memories rub-ons
Two fold card
Posted: May 25, 2008 Filed under: Designer Paper Leave a commentThis is a card I made last weekend but didn’t get photographed until just the other day. Once again I am relying on the pretty patterns in the designer paper for most of the card. I haven’t made a two-fold card in a long time so it was fun to work out the logistics for this one. I was inspired by other peoples’ designs along these lines. In the picture above the card is sitting open to show you where the folds are and the different sizes of each panel.
I chose two papers from Le Jardin designer paper pack and matted one with Always Artichoke and the other with So Saffron. Then I sponged and stamped faintly corners of the flourish stamp from Baroque Motifs on a square to create a background for the sentiment “From the Heat”. I triple matted the sentiment square and then attached it to the smaller side panel so that when closed it would be in the centre.
Supplies:
Stamps: All Year Round, Baroque Motifs
Inks: Always Artichoke, So Saffron
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke, So Saffron, Le Jardin Designer paper
Lace and panels
Posted: May 19, 2008 Filed under: One of a Kind 1 CommentThis is another card I made for Sharon’s Stamp Simply Challenge #35, where we had to use three panels. Like the last one I stamped my design as one panel and then cut it into three once all the colour had been added. I started by embossing on Vanilla cardstock with clear embossing powder and then sponged over the embossing. This time I split the panels a little further apart and matted each one separately. At this stage it was looking a little like tie dye so I decided to continue the shabby chic type of feel and add scallops and lace. When I was digging through my lace basket I realised there are some nice pieces in there which might also make their way onto cards.
I cut the scallops along the bottom using my corner rounder punch with the guide removed and sponged the edge. Inside the card I also sponged all around the edges leaving the centre blank to write in.
Supplies:
Stamps: One of a Kind
Inks: Rose Red, Always Artichoke, Bashful Blue
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke
Also: Clear embossing powder, lace
Boughs and blessings
Posted: May 17, 2008 Filed under: Infinite Goodness 1 CommentOften when I look at Sharon’s Stamp Simply Challenge I find she has suggested something I haven’t tried before, but this week her challenge features a technique I’ve tried several times. The challenge is to feature three panels on your card. The method I often use to do this is to stamp a design across a rectangle of card stock and then cut it into three panels. For this card I spread the panels slightly apart and adhered them to one matte.
The branches are stamped in chocolate chip, coloured with watercolour pencils and blended with a blender pen. I sponged the edges with bashful blue and added the word ‘blessings’. It was very relaxing to finally be stamping again!
Supplies:
Stamps: Infinite Goodness, Graceful words
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Chocolate chip, Green Galore
Also: Apple green grosgrain ribbon, watercolour pencils
Blue Purse
Posted: May 11, 2008 Filed under: Designer Paper, Purses 2 CommentsIt has been very quiet here on Bits & Pieces this week. That usually means it has been anything but quiet at home. We have just returned home from the third concert of the weekend. Soccer and softball started during the week and there was an extra medical appointment thrown in early in the week. All this has meant no stamping whatsoever!
I made this purse a little while ago, it is the same design as my red one and my chocolate one but a little bigger. I will try a different design one of these days. I like the fabric effect the designer paper gives on the purse flap and sides and the buckle was a nice finishing touch
Supplies:
Cardstock: Blue Bayou, Naturals White, Porcelain Prints Designer paper
Also: Antique Brass hodgepodge hardware
