Wonderland
Posted: March 8, 2019 Filed under: Altenew, Watercolour paints 36, Wonderland | Tags: Altenew 69 CommentsI’m collaborating with the Foiled Fox again and I’m thrilled to say there is a giveaway involved! With all the new flower stamps appearing and hopefully real flowers not too far behind we thought it would be fun to have a ‘Fave Flowers’ themed giveaway;. I’ll keep posting flowery cards here on the blog and let you know some of my favourites.
To enter the giveaway all you need to do is let me know your favourite flower in the comments below and you will be entered to win one of two $25 gift certificates from the Foiled Fox online store.
Poppies are a favourite of mine and if I found one this colour it would definitely be a hit. The ones I’ve had in my garden have all been orange, although now I think about it, I haven’t seen them the last few summers. If they need special attention you can be sure they didn’t get it! These poppies are from the Altenew set ‘Wonderland‘ which has quite a few poppy images, large, medium and small. I stamped on hot pressed watercolour paper in nocturne ink then embossed with clear powder. I did the large poppy first then masked it with the co-ordinating stencil mask before stamping the smaller poppies either side. The stencil masks are a great idea especially for someone like me who does not like to fussy cut. Once all the embossing was done I painted the flowers and background with Altenew watercolour paints.
Rather than leave the panel flat I die cut a square from the centre and from a piece of black foam so I could pop it up on the card front. I added a sentiment from the same set embossed in white on black cardstock. I’m looking forward to hearing about your favourite flowers and stamping some more myself. Make sure you pop over to the Foiled Fox blog for more details on this card and another chance to comment and enter the giveaway.
Hi Heather,
There is something about poppies that I love. What a beautiful card! Love the layering effect and the colors.
Beautiful card! I love the colours you chose. That’s a lovely stamp.
Realy Nice card. Colourboitiers just pop out. Stamp is also sell balanced.
Very pretty card, and quite effective to pop that middle portion up! My favorite flower is the lily of the valley. Can’t wait for spring!
Gorgeous. The colors are spectacular. And the blending is the best. Wish I could capture this look too.
I gotgot to add that poppies are one of my favorites too. Edna Burgess
I love this color for your poppies, Heather! We don’t see a lot of poppies around here. I wish we did. My favorite flower in my garden is the day lily. I have some that I’ve moved from past homes. They are so cheerful and easy care!
What gorgeous poppies Heather and love the way you have given it dimension and coloured beautifully. Poppies do come high up my list of favourite flowers, and I love peonies, coneflowers, lilies, and of course roses, but I don’t think there is a flower I really dislike. x
These are gorgeous poppies – and the colors! I like how you added interest with the popped-up panel.
Forgot to add my favorite flower. While I love roses and poppies, lily of the valley comes out on top because of some special childhood memories.
I love the beautiful colors on your poppy card. Aren’t we lucky that our world is filled with so many different floral treats?!! It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I do like hydrangeas a lot.
Poppies are one of my favorite flowers, mine are white with a purple center and purple with a with center…..so your card really is for me the one that really says wow to me. But I must admit that I loved nature in general so a simple daisy is beautiful to me. Thanks for sharing
I also LOVE poppies! I actually have a guest bedroom fully decorated with poppy pictures. I look at your blog every day and LOVE what you make! Keep up the wonderful work for us to enjoy!
Poppies are my very all time favorite for stamping, and you inspire me every time I look at your art. Today’s creation with the poppies has me heading into my craft room!
I like the flower designs and the sentiments, especially the one you chose. My favorite flower is an iris. Thanks for your wonderful posts.
such lovely coloring, I like how you cut out the center and popped it up!
I love all flowers but my favorite is sunflowers
Your work is lovely. I look forward to your posts. My favorite flower is daisy.
Such a striking card! Was hoping it was a Penny black stamp as the Altenew stamps are so darn pricey. thank you for sharing your incredible coloring talents!
Wonderland is appealing today. My overall favorite is Lily of the Valley.
There are so many favorites, but one of them is tulips. Maybe because we all so look forward to spring and their appearance!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful creations.
Since I was a child my favorite flowers have been the colorful little Johnny Jump Ups that pop up here and there spreading their fun.
Heather, you are one of my very favourite bloggers as I am always SO impressed by what you create & I appreciate that you share it. These poppies are glorious! The depth of colour in the background poppy makes it actually look like it sinks into the paper to create that effect. I know you popped up the panel, but still. I have some large, dark red poppies with black in the centre & some pink poppies as well. Each fall I let some of them go to seed & drop them in the dirt & then they come up next summer. They, along with peonies are my favourite.
Such a gorgeous card, Heather! My favourite flower is the dahlia, any variety. Thanks.
Your poppies are so beautiful. Love the color. My favorite flower is the Peony.
Anemones or Mimosa or Russian Iris or Oxeye Daisies or….
WOW! This is GORGEOUS!
PS my favorite flower is the iris.
Your projects are always so beautiful, Heather! I love to see the crocus in late winter, but the smell of the summer hyacinth near my front door always makes me happy 🙂
I love most flowers, but after seeing your glorious card here, I am saying Poppies all the way, lol. Thanks for the chance to win, Heather!

Poppies are one of my favorite flowers too.
Love the way you popped up your poppies! I’m a fan of wildflowers! So many beautiful and unique kinds!
Love the poppies and sweet peas to colour but love roses and iris best in the garden
Pansies are my favorite. I love their happy little faces and all the different color combinations.
I love poppies as well, They have special meaning since I was in Belgium and saw the fields and graves in Flanders. The people there have so much respect for the soldiers and their final resting place.
Absolutely beautiful card! Love the Wonderland set!
My favorite flowers are sweet peas! I have such fond memories of picking them in our backyard with my Dad when I was a kid! Love the colors and fragrance!
Hi Heather! Another beautiful creation!! I’m looking forward to the spring flowers! My favorite colors are the various colors of purple and white tulips! I love all tulips!! Thanks for sharing, your emails brighten my day! 🤗
Absolutely STUNNING card Heather!!!! TFS! There are other colors of poppies besides the orange and of course, as artists we can choose ANY color we want – LOL!!!
Paper Hugs,

Your flower coloring is to be admired!
Love the colour you chose. It would be hard to say which is my favourite flower as like many but if I had to pick one it would be peonies. I love to cut them from my garden as they smell lovely inside.
I love how you popped up the center of this. My favorite flower is the forget-me-not – blue or pink.

Your card is stunning! Thanks for the wonderful description of how you made it.
My favorite flower is the angel trumpet. The flower hangs upside down and has the most beautiful scent at night.
I love all flowers and your beautiful creations.
I love the poppies the way you colored them. This is a beautiful design. As to my favorite flowers I guess I would say it would be carnations as they smell so nice and daisies of all kinds. But truly any flower is beautiful.
My favorite flowers have always been hydrangeas. I have never had any luck growing them (I live in Florida, and they don’t like it here, really!) so I keep trying to paint them…..LOL! I have improved a little, but they are intimidating to paint. The watercolor technique of stamping and spritzing lends itself fairly well to hydrangeas. Sometimes. Anyway, love your poppies and ALL your painting. Thanks for sharing your gift!
Beautiful cards!! I do love to see how you make them. My favorite flower is the lilac. I used to have a lilac bush in my back yard with both white and lilac colored lilacs. So fragrant!!
Wonderland is such a versitile set and yoyur lovely card another example. Hard to pick just one favorite flower! English roses, hydrangea, iris, clemitis vine, fragrant hyacinth, etc, etc. Makes me happy just thinking of these!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful floral card design. I really like the delicate look of pansies.
Beautiful card design. Love the colors. I like peony flowers.
Peonies are my favorite flower, but poppies come in a close second.
Such beautiful coloring, Heather! I always am in awe of your beautiful creations. My favorite flower is the poppy, especially those tall ones that take over the whole area & wave in the breeze.

Simply stunning! Love the layers and that gorgeous flower!!!
I like peonies, lillies, hibicus…well if it’s a flower period I like them LOL
I have never met a flower I didn’t like! Love lily of the valley, though. Brings some many memories when I smell them.
My favorite flower is the Balloon flower. I love how it opens to a perfect five point star!
My favorite flowers are zinnias and tulips. I love your artistic card!
Such a beautiful design! I love peonies and lilacs and queen anne’s lace! …gasp, yes I do consider it a flower! 😀
Your watercoloing never ceases to amaze me! This is a gorgeous card – the colors are beautiful! My favorite flower is the rose.
Any flower is a gift but I have to say I love cosmos especially white. They are easy to grow, look good in the garden or a vase. I found you through WordPress Reader suggestion and then found Foiled Fox. Me thinks me going to like both, real well.
Any kind of mountain wildflower. From all my miles and miles of hiking, they made the best company. thanks as always for sharing.
Love the cards you are making with these beautiful floral stamps. My favorite flower is the pansy.
So beautiful Heather! As always, your work is a wonderful inspiration! Like you I adore poppies, along with several others. It is so difficult to select just one. Hydrangeas are another of my favourites. Thanks for sharing.
Dear Heather,
I love, love, love flowers! But poppies are my favorite and you have made them come to life. They are blooming off of the page. I can’t wait to get this set and make cards with these gorgeous poppies.
Karen
Wow! Such a gorgeous card and design! So vibrant! 🙂
As for favorite flower, I am partial to wild flowers, so the little wood Violet has always been so very dear to me.
Thank you for the lovely inspiration! 🙂
I love hydrangeas in arrangements but in gardens I like coral bells and fritillaria. All flowers are so pretty, just like your cards, Heather.
I love this card and stamp set – it does have such a Wonderland feel to it. As for my favourite flower – I have to say that Asian tree peonies are my favourite by a bare nose – there are so many beautiful flowers in the world.
Beautiful card! Choosing ONE flower as a favorite is hard (!), but since I am craving spring, I will say the daffodil.
Oh, Heather, what a stunning card! I love how you’ve colored your poppies and how you’ve popped the image up on black foam. A favorite flower for me is the hydrangea, but South Florida is far too hot for them…makes me sad. So I try to color them, but as someone said above, it’s a challenge. It’s hard to achieve all the beautiful variations of color. What I continue to try when I can. Thanks for sharing this stunning card! Hugs and love! xoxo
