The Unfolding

magnolia Heather Telford

I have some new stamps and dies to share over the next little while, all with the promise of spring. The new release from Penny Black is called ‘So Special’ and it will soon be available in the online store. If you haven’t already seen the teasers on the Penny Black blog then pop over there and browse through the last two weeks of posts. There are prizes to be won by four lucky people so make sure you stop by and check it out.

I painted a pale blue sky on watercolour paper before using distress stains to colour this striking new magnolia stamp. To finish I die cut one of the new sentiments in black and framed the flower in black also.

Paint: Phthalo blue Dr Ph. Martin Hydrus

Oh, Heather, this is gorgeous, and your sky looks so real with the white clouds and blue sky! Amazing! And what a beautiful watercolor flowering branch! Stunning! Hugs, sweet friend, and I look forward to more sneak peeks!

Spring!…I am so ready. My husband pointed-out Crocus blooms in our yard this morning as he left for work!…and the Daphne is blooming! 🙂 I love the way you did the sky…white on one side/blue on the other! Distress Stains!…I haven’t played with them for ages! Thanks for the inspiration, Heather!

A gorgeous Magnolia branch Heather and the colours are beautiful and I really love the way you have kept the cloud in the sky where the branch is and then introduced that pretty blue sky towards the righthand side, and the black die cut sentiment looks really good against the blue. x

I so love your style Heather as well as Penny Black floral stamps. Here on the West coast of Canada, the magnolia trees are budding – can’t wait for them to bloom!

  11. WOW! This one just leaps off the page in vibrancy! I LOVE this! It’s beautifully painted against your soft sky! Your colors are gorgeous and so is your blending. Maybe some day I will succeed at this. I’d love to be able to do this!

I completely missed that you used distress stains with Bejeweled…I see “distress” and my mind just goes to “inks”! That card has the wonderful sky treatment, too, that reminds me of spring skies. You capture the “feel” of nature and scenes so beautifully. Your sky looks real!…that is your “photographer’s eye”! 🙂
