This week Penny Black is playing along with the Through the Purple Haze Challenge Blog. The theme is `Christmas`so I pulled out the masking fluid again. Before I added masking fluid I die cut the word Peace and the Nature`s Song branches out of post it notes and stuck them on the card base as masks. I didn`t flick the masking fluid on for this design; I painted it on with a paintbrush. After it dried I sponged Memento Summer Sky ink over the masking getting gradually paler as I moved from right to left.
It`s nice to create a one layer card again, made even simpler by using only one ink and no stamps.

Your one-layer cards always look so wonderfully dimensional with the techniques you do. This one is lovely with the white branches against the blue, and the sentiment is perfect for the feel of the card. Merry Christmas and tfs. Hugs
Very pretty card! Just curious….what did you use to hold the two die cuts in place while you inked over them?

I cut the shapes out of post it notes so there was adhesive on the back to hold them in place.
Beautiful card Heather! Sometime would you please show the type of ‘sponge’ you use to achieve your perfect background sponging…and the technique.

This tutorial https://cardz.wordpress.com/2012/12/17/snowy-scene-tutorial/ shows the type of sponge I use and the technique. I cut the round sponges in quarters and always use the rounded side.
