Early light

Early light

Now that I am back from my trip to DC and half way through the piles of washing I found a little time to create a card. I have some great design team tasks to tackle and new class projects to design for August but before I dive into them I played around with a new toy. I know it doesn’t look like anything new here but I cut my mask with one of my new spellbinders square dies. Creating a mask with a die is that little bit easier than lining up the four post-it notes. (not a ground breaking technique, I know!)

With my mask in place I sponged Memento pistachio ink on the lower two thirds of the square and summer sky in the top third. Before removing the mask I stamped the grasses across the bottom of the scene. After removing the mask I added the grass and sentiment in olive grove.

I hope to settle back into a routine of visiting and commenting on your blogs; thank you so much for dropping in here.

Supplies:

Stamps: Enjoy Life, Every Happiness  (PB)
Inks: Memento Pistachio, Olive Grove, Summer Sky  (Tsukineko)

Love it – the light in the sky is so pretty. Do you use plain copy paper for your masks and do you use anything special to hold them in place?

BEAUTIFUL card! LOVE the inking and that stamp is great. I too think that it is much easier to create masks with dies than to use post-its. In fact, I have a file in my paper cabinet that’s marked “MASKS,” that has quite a few of the negatives left from die-cutting. Before I cut a mask, I pull that file out to see if what I need is in it. Using one I have, saves the time and trouble of getting out the die, getting out the paper/cardstock, cutting, cleaning up. 🙂

  16. Welcome back. I’m just back too …. love this card. That touch of light in the blue is just perfect.

Gorgeous…as always. Leave it to you, to come up with this fantastic idea! Did you diecut postit notes, or from the mask paper? This is just a lovely scene, and one I’ll try out. Hope your trip was wonderful, and that you don’t exhaust yourself in recovering from it!!! TFS

      Hi Mary,
I use post-it notes. The trip was very enjoyable. Even though we were only in Washington 4 days we saw quite a lot and the boys were able to visit both Air & Space museums, plus the spy museum while I was busy with classes. We viewed all the monuments together and dragged my reluctant son through the art gallery as well!
