A trio of holly cardsPosted: October 29, 2012 Filed under: CAS, Music Background, Winter Bough 31 Comments
A friend asked me to make her Christmas cards this year, a task I happily took on. She does not want a huge amount but enough that I am definitely doing some mass production. I found this weekend when I started to make numerous versions of the holly card above it wasn’t long before I had adapted it a little. I actually prefer the one below, my second version.
I had created quite a few of the version above when I accidentally scored the white cardstock in the wrong direction, hence version three below.
I created the tiles first by inking the holly stamp with red and green markers and stamping it on white card. I then added the music background stamp in grey ink which had been stamped off on scrap first to make it lighter. I used a punch to cut out as many tiles as possible then a larger punch for the mats. I sponged the tiles after they were punched. The background holly on the base was just stamped in green.
Stamps: Winter Bough, Joy.Hope, Flourish Christmas (Penny Black)
Cardstock: Penny Black Mix & Match Rose Garden and Sea Breeze
Inks: Memento Rhubarb Stalk, Cottage Ivy, London fog, Lady bug(Tsukineko)
Also: Grosgrain ribbon
Are these for our challenge Heather…it looks like our sketch this week. They are all fabulous cards and have given me an idea to use holly this year for my Christmas cards.
Your cards are just lovely. I just started card making about six months ago and have tried experimenting with quite a few designs. I love your style the best and will be trying a few soon. Thank you!
Heather, these are lovely! I agree, that middle one my most favorite. I have that sentiment and still have cards to make. I may have to try and CASE this!
It would be a difficult challenge to pick one of these to say “I like this one best”. These are all just awesome. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration, and your friend is sure to love these. I love the use of traditional colors with the little subtle gray shading on the music background. Stunning. TFS
All beautiful cards, Heather – the holly stamp is lovely.
A fabulous variation on a theme Heather I think I have been inspired for my Christmas cards:)
I cannot choose a favourite, the are all gorgeous! I love the addition of the pale grey music stamping. Your friend will love them. xx

Wow. Such lovely cards. Thanks for sharing them!
What a beautiful set of cards, that holly stamp is just gorgeous and I think the way you have linked the three tiles by using the same stamp is superb.
Love Your cards
Very elegant with something more….
Is it stylish or unique?
Is it newer or maybe so simple…??
Amazing how different they all look – Wonderful work Heather!!!
More eyeball-popping cards, Heather! My favorite of all is the same as yours, the second one. Love, love, love!!
Stunning cards – love the christmassy colours and the background stamping!
I like each one. In the morning, I look forward to seeing your next beautiful creation — it’s a lovely way to start the day. In the evening, I try to adapt the techniques to stamps and inks I have — it is a relaxing way to end the day. Thank you so very much for the thought, time, and skills your share.

I adore all three versions of this, Heather! I hope you won’t mind if a version of at least one shows up on my blog sometime before the last week of December. 😉
These are wonderful Heather – just my kind of card! I love the way you made different versions of the card too.
I’m pinning the last 2 cards–can’t stop looking at them!
All three cards are fabulous Heather, love how you’ve changed them all slightly. The middle one is my favourite. xx
