OLW 77 Birds
Posted: February 7, 2012 Filed under: Penny Black, Winter Sky 32 CommentsThis week Jennifer Styles is hosting the OLW challenge and has asked us to use birds. It is quite a while since I participated in One Layer Wednesday but thanks to this lovely winter sky stamp complete with birds I can just squeeze a card in before a new challenge starts tomorrow. I took some photos while making this card so I’ll try to get the tutorial up soon. Thanks for all the encouragement you gave me after I posted the Berry branch tutorial on the weekend. I am happy to be able to share the technique and would love to hear how you went.
Today’s card doesn’t include any embossing just the masking and sponging to create the effect of dusk or dawn.
Supplies:
Stamps: Winter Sky (Penny Black), Tag lines(Flourishes)
Inks: Marina Mist, Pretty in Pink, Versafine Onyx Black
Cardstock: MFP 100lb white

Stunning card, Heather! Love the amazing scenery you created!

Heather, this is heartstoppingly beautiful. It is perfectly done, the colors are the winter sky I am seeing in the clear evenings as I drive home. Just gorgeous! I am amazed at your creations. I wish I could be your student. Well, maybe I can be with your tutorials. What do you use to apply the ink? Sponge, dauber, Tim Holts type applicator?
Stunning! Once again, the ‘sponging queen’ excels! I especially love the pink to blue transition in the sky – that’s a difficult one!
absolutly great card. I love it!

This is so beautiful! What do you use to sponge with may I ask? THanks!

Oh my goodness, Heather, this is stunning!!! LOVE.
Sophisticated and classy!
This is absolutely stunning as always Heather. The transition from blue to pink in the sky is so smooth it appears almost brayered and the dark branches and birds look perfect against it. It looked a bit like your scene around here last week!
Simply gorgeous Heather, a real beauty,x
Heather, this is simply GORGEOUS!! LOVE it!!
