OLW 20 Three Plus One

This week Susan’s One Layer Wednesday challenge is to use three images and a sentiment.  If possible avoid embellishments, but that isn’t mandatory!  I have two for this challenge:  same layout and technique but different colour schemes.  If you have visited here lately you will see I am still masking and sponging.  As the current Speedy the Cat’s Friends Challenge is to use fall colours, I will participate in that one too.

To create these two cards I punched the squares out of  post it notes to create the mask then sponged and  stamped the images before removing the mask.  I am enjoying stamping in autumn colours but in real life I am clinging to the last days of summer; perhaps that is why I did one in summer colours as well.

Supplies:

Stamps: Garden Silhouettes, With Gratitude, Upsy Daisy, Hugs and Wishes
Inks: Summer Sun, Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke
Cardstock: Flourishes Classic Ivory

Casing the CAS (again)

Once again the CAS favourites thread at Splitcoast provided me with an abundance of inspiration yesterday afternoon.  The first one I CASEd was a bright happy card by Wanda Cullen.  I used her layout and some of her techniques but went with a different theme and colour scheme.

I embossed the bottom of the card using my cuttlebug, then masked and sponged the top area with Really Rust, Ruby Red and Rose Red.  I stamped and restamped the leaves using the same three colours before hunting through my ribbon for a co-ordinating colour.  I’m not sure what it is, it was from a sample pack and isn’t in the SU line up anymore.  I stamped my little sentiment, punched it, inked the edge and then adhered it over the ribbon with stampin’ dimensionals.

That’s all for now, school starts tomorrow so my stamping and blogging time is going to be somewhat diminished.

Supplies:

Stamps: With Gratitude, Teensy Tiny Wishes
Inks: Rose Red, Ruby Red, Real Rust
Cardstock: Flourishes Classic Ivory
Also: grosgrain ribbon, Forest branches embossing folder

Thanksgiving leaves

I have been thrilled and amazed at all the encouraging comments I have received about yesterday’s OLW 16 Scene card.  I was very happy with it but had no idea it would appeal to so many people.  Thank you for your kind words.  I mentioned at the end of that post that I would try the same technique again but with some autumn colours.  Well here it is; not a scene this time but the same process.  I masked off my panel, sponged in three colours, stamped the leaves in the same colours and then removed the masks before stamping the bold brown leaf and sentiment.

Those who have regularly drop in here might have noticed the layout has changed.  I decided I wanted to try a new theme.  All the elements are still here just moved around a little.  Just click on the Bits & Pieces title at left to go to the full blog.

PS. I have just been looking at the Speedy the Cat’s Friends Challenge over at Mark’s Finest Papers and I think this card fits the Harvest Theme so I will link it.  I have another idea forming in my imagination so check back later in the week.

Supplies:

Stamps: With Gratitude, Teensy Tiny Wishes
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun, Ruby Red, Real Rust
Cardstock: Flourishes Classic White

More Kraft

I mentioned the other day that the CAS-tastic challenge to use Kraft had inspired me to create a bunch of cards.  I decided to make them all thank you cards and perhaps box them up in a set to use as a gift.  This is the second one I made using white on Kraft again and the same layout.  I stamped the daisy stamp twice to fill the space.

Supplies:

Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Thank you  Kindly
Inks: Versamark, Basic Black
Cardstock: Confetti White, Basic Black, Kraft
Also: White e.p.

I was also inspired by the beautiful card Karen, from the Bald Dragonfly, made,  I made a few changes but basically CASEd her lovely four squared design.

I added a little sponging in rust and matted the foursome in black before adding a little bow and the sentiment.  I’m so glad I came across the Bald Dragonfly; Karen’s blog is full of inspiration and beauty.

Supplies:

Stamps: Simple Sayings 2, With Gratitude
Inks: Versamark, Basic Black, Really Rust
Cardstock: Confetti White, Basic Black, Kraft
Also: Black e.p., Black twine

Natural Thanks

I repeated the layout I used in my previous card and just changed the colour scheme and the stamped image.  As I wanted a white leaf on artichoke, I embossed it in white and then sponged over and around it before cutting it out.  This year my children have been involved in an Outdoor education program at a campsite out of town.  This was the thank you card for the owners of the campsite.  The method was the same as my So Glad card and the inspiration, Joan’s gorgeous card.

Supplies:

Stamps: With Gratitude, Sincere Salutations
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Handsome Hunter
Cardstock: Always Artichoke, Whisper White
Also:  White embossing powder

Andy Warhol inspired

The title should really read ” Andy Warhol and Lateblossom inspired!  A few days ago Susan at Simplicity by Lateblossom  issued a  challenge to search through our stamp collections and try making a Andy Warhol inspired card along the same lines as her two cards here and here.

I was pretty certain that the only images I had that would work were  flowers and snowflakes.  Susan had already made a striking snowflake card so I tried flowers and then realized I might have enough leaves to try again.  The flowers are stamped on Whisper White and the leaves on Confetti Cream.

September Stampers’ Club

Tonight at Stampers’ club we used the Sunflowers that I have been enjoying playing around with lately. I tried several techniques for creating a watercolour effect with the sunflowers. One was spraying the watercolour paper first and then stamping on it. Alternatively I stamped the sunflowers and then sprayed the paper afterwards. You can also ink the stamps and then spray them before stamping them. Unfortunately I can’t remember which technique I used here!? I think it was spray the paper first stamp after, but you may as well try each technique yourself. I added the dots to the paper with a Stampin’ marker.

Supplies:

Stamps: Serene Sunflowers, With Gratitude
Inks: Ruby Red, Bravo Burgandy, Always Artichoke, Burgandy and Artichoke Stampin’ markers
Cardstock: Ruby Red, Bravo Burgandy, Always Artichoke, Naturals White, Watercolour paper
Also: Antique Brass brads

For the other card I started with half an 8½x11 piece of vanilla cardstock and randomly stamped leaves all over it in Basic Black ink. Then I coloured with watercolour pencils in a range of colours which would match the earth elements cardstock. I added some leaves in earth elements inks, stamping several times before re-inking to get the variety of shades. At this point I showed my samples but encouraged everyone to cut whatever size and shape they wanted out of the leaf sheet and matte it to make their own card. I had twill tape on hand to add and the THANKS greeting. There was a little bit of complaining about having to design their own cards, but as usual they did a beautiful job.

Supplies:

Stamps: Fundamental Phrases, With Gratitude
Inks: Basic Black, Close to Cocoa, More Mustard, Chocolate Chip
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Ruby Red, Summer Sun
