All Abloom

This delicate rose is from a transparent set of floral stamps. I inked it with a mix of red and green distress stains and markers. I pulled the colour into the petals and leaves with a small paintbrush adding extra here and there where needed. To finish I used the same stamp to create an outline patterned panel at the bottom of the card front and the stitched edge die to shape the bottom of the panel and red mat underneath.
Once again the Valentine’s stamps prompted me to pull out red ink; I’m not sure why I can’t break free from that mould. Perhaps I should have tried black. A friend of mine bought a black rose bush at the end of last season and is eager to see what it looks like once summer comes around. There is such a thing as a blue rose too although that does not seem quite right.
Supplies:
Stamps: All Abloom (PB)
Dies: Stitched Edges (PB)
Inks: Festive berries, Peeled Paint, Pine needles distress stains and markers (Ranger), Versafine Satin red ink (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: Hotpressed Fabriano watercolour paper, Neenah chili red
Love your pretty rose – love roses but my ones in the garden never do too well. We have a blue rose – it is actually a purple colour and looks velvety.
This is so beautiful, Heather. Wishing for a video tutorial. :).
Oh, Heather, this is simply gorgeous with such an elegant layout. I love how you created your own DP for the bottom with the lovely border. Your watercolor rose is so beautiful, and I love the small leaves of this image. It looks like a real beauty! Hugs!
I’ve not seen a black rose and I’m sure it’s very striking, but I’m partial to pink and red roses myself. Especially for Valentine’s Day. As always your stamping and painting are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing the details!
Black is never truly black in the plant world but this rose is a gorgeous colour Heather and beautifully painted as always. I love the stamped background paper and the pretty shaped edge too. x
That is true black is often a very deep red, purple or burgandy; I will be interested to see which one my friend’s rose turns out to be.
I like the trick of stamping a single, striking image and then using it for a patterned panel. Nice contrast.
There is never anything wrong with using red. 🙂 A beautiful card! I really like the background using just the outline with the beautiful painted one.
Heather, this is a wonderful card. the rose is lovely. and the bottom part of the card is genius. i just ordered some stamps that will help me try this also. thanks for all you share with us. hugs, treen
