Home sweet home
Posted: March 10, 2013 Filed under: CAS, Sweet Home, Uptown, Watercolour 14 CommentsI have another one layer watercolour card made on the Fabriano watercolour paper. This one combines watercolouring and sponging. I think the house ended up looking more like a “fixer-upper” than a sparkling new home but that’s ok. It’s still a home, sweet home.
I stamped the house in versafine smokey gray then used a mask to sponge a green hill. All the colouring is done with watercolour pencils blended with water and a little highlighting done at the end with the pencil dipped in water. To finish I cut a complete house mask so I could sponge the sky in blue.
Thanks for dropping by.
Supplies
Stamps: Uptown, Sweet Home (Penny Black)
Inks: Memento Summer Sky, Cottage Ivy & Versafine Smokey Gray (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: Fabriano 25% cotton hot pressed watercolour paper
Also: Fabercastell watercolour pencils
I think it’s a great house! And you can’t beat a blue sky and green grass this time of the year. What do you use for your masks? I usually use post it notes, but there may be a better way. Thanks for your wonderful work.
Thanks for visiting Beverly and leaving me a sweet response. My masks are all post-its.
So sweet, bright and cheerful. xo, Marian
Sweet card! Vibrant little house. Great sponged sky and grass. Turns out that I loved the fixer-uppers I bought and fixed up, more than the brand new home I built. Go figure! 🙂
So sweet asnd very very beautiful Heather

So cute, Heather!! It looks more like a whimsical house (the best kind!) than a fixer-upper to me! Thanks for the how-to!
Love this card – just wonderful!! Thanks so much!
I love the house, its so quirky! xx
so cute-thanks for the watercolor inspirations! I am trying your techniques as you post them-it’s been so much fun.
Adorable home card.
It looks to me like a house that wants to be lived in; and that’s the best kind!
Looks like a water colour painting – beautiful;l 🙂 x
Well, just like people, sometimes the used up fixer uppers have the best stories to tell!! LOVE your card, Heather.
Lovely house Heather! Wonderful coloring! I will definitely need to try dipping the pencils directly into water.
