OLW Stars and Stripes
Posted: July 5, 2012 Filed under: CAS, OLW 6 CommentsSusan’s challenge for One Layer Wednesday this week is to use stars and stripes, very appropriate for a July 4th challenge. I did not choose to make my card in red, white and blue however; I went for some bright sunny yellow stars.
I realized after I had finished that this almost exactly the layout I used for my last OLW card; sorry for the lack of variety. This simple three star card took three attempts to complete as I smudged yellow ink outside the star on the first two cards. Sigh. Other than that little hitch it was a very straightforward card. I punched the stars out of a post it note to make the mask. I then sponged yellow first, added a straight mask, sponged orange, repositioned the mask and so on.
Hope your week is sunny.
Supplies:
Stamps: Sweet Wishes (Penny Black)
Inks: Memento Daffodil, Cantaloupe, Tangelo & Potter’s Clay (Tsukineko)

Love your bright stars that incorporate the stripes right into them! Clever!
Heather, I just recently found your blog, ( through Pinterest) I have to say, your cards are true works of art!.. Anyone can grab a handful of stamps and some paper to make a card, but you take it to the next level and truly CREATE! I love your tutorials and I hope to try my hand at some of the techniques that you taught in them. Keep up the beautiful work!! God bless!
Isn’t it so frustrating a simple one layer takes 3 tries! Been there done that! Your 3rd attempt ROCKS!!! Thanks for the directions on how to — You did a fabulous job once again!! 🙂
I’m with Vicki — this card ROCKS! (I’m glad I read her comment; I was having trouble coming up with the right accolade. I think she nailed it.) The fact that you sponged those incredibly straight lines of colour — wow.
Heather, I like your sunny color combination. I can’t believe the stripes were applied with a sponge! Simply amazing…
I missed this card in the OLW gallery. I love the sunny stars! 🙂
