Swirls of fall colours
Posted: August 12, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentIt seems wrong to be stamping in fall colours when we are in the middle of summer, but I know fall will be here before we know it. ( I have a card in soft summer colours for tomorrow, though) I took all the cards featuring retired cardstock, stamps or accessories down from my display board on the weekend and once again it looks very empty. Today I ordered a few sets from the new catalogue so when they arrive I will have some totally new designs to share. Until then, I will be looking for fresh inspiration using my old sets.
When making the card above I started out with the flourish embossed in gold but I wasn’t happy with it. Wnen I started arranging things without the gold it came together. I inked the flourish unevenly, leaving some patches entirely uninked. After stamping it a couple of times in both chocolate chip and pumpkin pie I added some sponging and the flowers. Once again I did not have the right coloured brad so I pressed a silver one into the Close to Cocoa Craft pad and then embossed with clear e.p.
Supplies:
Stamps:With Gratitude, Baroque motifs
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa craft ink
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie
Also: Chocolate grosgrain ribbon, brad, clear e.p.
Soft subtle spots

I noticed my new circle punch sitting in the drawer and decided to punch out some holes and use it as a stencil. I sponged with Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink and realised that I need to turn it into a baby card. As you can see there isn’t much to the card, some spots, a word and some ribbon, it’s all in the co-ordinating colours.
Supplies:
Stamps: Hugs and Wishes
Inks: Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink
Cardstock: Whisper White,Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink
Also: Pink and Blue gingham ribbons, 1/2′ circle punch

I’m sorry about the lack of cards here but I hope to post the December Stampers’ Club projects soon. While I am getting that done I wanted to show you this very clever little card my daughter made for her brother’s birthday. It is all paper piecing except for the wire spokes on the wheels. I was very impressed with the attention to detail.
A miracle celebrated

Last week we were thrilled by the news that dear friends of our had a baby girl. I was quite delighted to hold her when she was only a day old. I find it very hard to believe that my two girls were once that small but they were. Yesterday the whole family met her and I was able to give her mommy this card which I failed to have ready in time for the shower! (Oh well I didn’t know to use flowers then).
The card is a 5¼” square card and the patterned paper is from a Michaels slab I bought long ago. Inside is the greeting from Many Merry Messages a Christmas set. My daughter used it for the baby card she made and I thought it was perfect so I used it too. “Joy expressed, Love shared, A Miracle celebrated.
Supplies:
Stamps: I’m Here, Many Merry Messages
Inks: So Saffron, Certainly Celery(inside)
Cardstock: So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Naturals white
Also: Gold organdy ribbon
