Hello Baby Boy

img_4356card20.jpg

Three families we know have had babies in the last week so I have made a start on some baby cards. Two had boys and one a girl. I have been enjoying the Chocolate chip ink and cardstock lately so thought it would make a good boy colour scheme when combined with Not quite Navy. I stamped the letters on vanilla cardstock and then stuck them on not quite navy before cutting around them. I sponged all the edges but made it heavier in two corners.

Supplies:

Stamps: Sweet Shapes, Headline Alphabet
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Vanilla, Not quite Navy
Ink: Chocolate Chip,Not quite Navy
Also: Stampin’ dimensionals

Chocolate weekend sketch

img_4355card19.jpg

I made this card to go in the chocolate purse I posted yesterday along with a couple of tags. My inspiration for the layout was Beate’s weekend sketch. img_4357pursetags.jpg

I am quite taken with the whole purse designing idea and have another one to photograph tomorrow and share with you. Someone made the suggestion that I should put chocolates in my chocolate purse, which is probably a much better idea than tags!

Supplies:

Stamps: One of a Kind
Cardstock: Berry Bliss designer paper, Chocolate Chip, Whisper white, Close to Cocoa
Ink: Chocolate Chip, versamark
Also: Stampin’ dimensionals, scallop scissors, Boho blossoms punch, white e.p., chocolate grosgrain ribbon

Chocolate Purse

img_4351purse1.jpg

This is my first attempt at a purse. I admit I have seen them in magazines and on blogs but never saw a reason to make one. Now I have made one, I think I’ll be making more. I plan to create some matching cards or tags to put in this one, which I will post when they are completed. Sharon at No Time to Stamp was the catalyst for this one, her Stamp Simply Challenge #24 is to make something purse related.

I could tell you all the measurements and scoring lines but as I was making this one up as I went along, I think I will do another and take pictures as I go. I folded a rectangular piece of designer paper into a concertina fold to make the sides. The white lace is made with a pair of double scallop scissors.

Supplies:

Stamps: One of a Kind
Cardstock: Berry Bliss designer paper, Chocolate Chip, Whisper white, Close to Cocoa
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Also: Stampin’ dimensionals, scallop scissors

Black, white and rock

img_4347card181.jpg

I thought this card would come together easily as I was using Tuesday’s colour challenge CC155 from Splitcoast and Wednesday’s sketch challenge SC165. I did not need to choose colours or layout; that was done for me. Unfortunately it still took a while as I played with mattes and sizes and patterns. I do like these colours together, it is just a slight variation on the two colour designs I have been doing lately. The background stamp on the top right rectangle is stamped in black and the petals coloured with a not-so-healthy, white gel pen. You get the idea, but it would probably pop more if the white petals were brighter.

Supplies:

Stamps: Boho Backgrounds, One of a Kind
Inks: Black
Cardstock: Whisper White, Black, River Rock
Also: Circle punches, white gel pen

Flowers for you

img_4326card16.jpg

I had this design in my head before the stamps arrived so it was fun to see if it would work once I received them. Stamping the Boho background stamp across the rectangular piece diagonally gave me a path of flowers on which to lay the larger ones from the One of a Kind set. I stamped a few flowers in Ruby red on white card and embossed some in white e.p. on Ruby cardstock. I punched some out with the coordinating punch and others I cut by hand before arranging and sticking them down. White eyelets are added to the centres of three.

Supplies:

Stamps: Boho Backgrounds, One of a Kind
Cardstock: Whisper white, Ruby Red
Ink: Ruby Red, Versamark
Also: Boho blossoms punch, white embossing powder, white eyelets

China Blue

img_4328card17.jpg

I have had a chance to play with one of new sets, Boho Backgrounds. The fine detail on the stamps combined with the Ballet Blue ink and cardstock reminded me of patterns on china plates. The layout is my take on Beate’s Weekend Sketch. I have sponged the edges of the large rectangle and the most of the small rectangle. To highlight the flower circle I embossed in white and raised it with stampin’ dimensionals. Punching out the circular image with the scallop punch from SU would have been quicker than cutting by hand but I don’t have that punch!

Supplies:

Stamps: Boho Backgrounds, Fundamental Phrases
Cardstock: Whisper white, Ballet Blue
Ink: Ballet Blue, Versamark
Also: corner rounder punch, white embossing powder, stampin’ dimensionals

Subtle shades

img_4307card14.jpg

Sharon from No Time to Stamp posted a sketch challenge last week. I completed the card over the weekend but only managed to photograph it today. I like the soft shades of blue and green in Le Jardin set of designer paper. If I did it again I think I would use blue instead of moss ribbon.

Supplies:
Stamps: Garden Silhouettes
Inks: Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Le Jardin Designer paper, Almost Artichoke, River Rock, Mellow Moss
Also: Moss grosgrain ribbon

Last pink petals, for now

img_4297crop10.jpg

I say it is the last pink petals card, but you never know. I couldn’t bring myself to cut off the petals so I will have to find an envelope to fit or give the card without an envelope.

I did receive some new stamps today so hopefully there will be some new sets featured very soon.

Supplies:

Stamps: Pick a Petal, Graceful Words
Inks: Regal Rose, Always Artichoke markers and stamp pads
Cardstock: Whisper White, Regal Rose, Always Artichoke

Late Valentine

img_4264acard3.jpg

I should have posted this one on Valentine’s Day, it is a valentine A11 made . I was impressed with the way she combined the hearts from three different sets in the one pretty card.

Supplies:

Stamps: Priceless, All Through the Year, Time Well Spent, Fundamental Phrases, So Swirly jumbo wheel
Cardstock: Cameo Coral, Blush Blossom, Whisper White
Inks: Cameo Coral
Also: Corner rounder punch

Only in black and white

img_4300card11.jpg

Black and white are generally not the colours I use to make cards but I really like the striking effect of these cards. On the card above I embossed the hearts with black e.p. but I did not emboss the swirls behind. The white swirl and sentiment are rub-ons. On the card below you can see a difference in the black of the circle images and the black of the flowers. The circled flowers are embossed where the flowers in the lower half are not. I used a mask of a flower to stamp them repeatedly without overlap showing. Again I used white rub-ons.

I am going to make more in black and white and would love to see other people’s designs. Leave me a link in the comment section if you have some black and white designs to share. Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:

Stamps: Priceless
Inks: Black, Versamark
Cardstock: Whisper White, Black
Also: Circle punches, square punches, black e.p., Cherished Memories rub-ons, black and white grosgrain ribbon, black velvet ribbon (behind the circles)
