Someday scraps

If you read Godelieve Tijsken’s blog, Stamping Matilda you will know I have borrowed the title of her regular Sunday post but changed it slightly. Each week she gathers scraps from her work table, creates something from them and posts it on her blog under the title ‘Sunday Scraps’. It is always interesting to see how she has made use of leftovers. I am nowhere near organized enough to have a project made from leftovers every week but I recently started saving my stamped scraps in the hope using them in a project someday. After checking with Godelieve I decided to call my post “Someday Scraps” ; you never know it might be come a regular thing. If you are not familiar with Godelieve’s blog you need to go there right now because it is full of wonderful creations which are very innovative and artistic.
Having said all that, I haven’t really created a new card from scraps the way Godelieve does. A few weeks ago I made a one layer card for One Layer Wednesday which was inspired by packaging. You can see it here. When I was making that card I tried embossing the white berries before stamping the green leaves and vice versa. Which ever worked best ( sorry I don’t remember) became the card for One Layer Wednesday; the other trial became the scrap you see here. I took the scrap and changed the orientation. I also added some sponging to make the berries pop a little more and mounted it on a white mat on a green cardbase. In my ribbon drawer I found a very wide piece of organza ribbon so I cut a piece off and attached it across the panel before adding a sentiment.
I now have a little box beside my worktable with “Someday Scraps” in it. You might see them someday…

Stamps: Breezy, Foliage Fancy, Winter Berries(PB)
Inks: Memento Bamboo Leaves, New Sprout & Versamark (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: Penny Black Mix & Match papers “Olive Green”
Also: White embossing powder, Olive organza ribbon

So I had to look back at your earlier card. Both stunning, of course, but I think this one is my fave. Thanks for the link to Godelieve’s blog, I’ve subscribed to both. As for scraps, I’d have to call mine “Anyday Scraps” or even “Everyday Scraps”! Fabulous idea.

Beautiful card Heather! I just spent a day last week cleaning up my desk and turned a few scraps into cards. I’ve only got one photographed and posted so far, but I was so happy to get them done using scraps.

I always like you style of making cards, it is simple, it is clear, it is elegant, I also suscrible Godelieve’s blog for many years. She always brings a little surprise the way she does stamping, and I love her Close Up, her photography is beautiful. I can say we are so blessed to have all the resources through internet and blogging to be able to enjoy so many creation from all over the world.

It’s been lovely catching up with your lovely work Heather and there have been some real beauties! I actually prefer this card to the one it lost out to – the embossed berries look wonderful with the palm-like leaves. Spring is only just beginning here and the trees are stubbornly withholding leaves – so late! Hope you’re getting warmer too. Vicky x
Very nice! It looks as though it was always meant to be.
I do this all the time as I hate to waste anything. Of course, I also have piles of “leftovers”, as I like to call them, that haven’t been used yet, but sometimes when I’ve lost my mojo, I sift through them and see if something sparks my interest.
I keep my stamped scraps as well, but rarely do they turn into anything nearly as pretty as this! The organza ribbon is such a nice touch, too.
What a Beautiful scrap! I always keep my scraps, it’s somewhat of a burden for me. LOL I just can’t seem to throw things away! In the back of my mind, I’m thinking, I will use that someday. HaHa… And you know, when I’m in a pinch and need something fast, I can grab from the scrap pile. You can always stick a flower or something over the boo boos, right?

I bought most of the colours you use, but I hardly dare to give it a try.
First thougt the darker green stripe was ink, but it is organza, beautiful.
I agree with you, Godelieve is realy a great stamper with even great ideas and a fantastic photografer. Well: some people have it all and you two make work, that brings joy to many people.
