Blue
Posted: January 18, 2013 Filed under: CAS, Inclinations 20 CommentsThe current CASology challenge theme is BLUE, my favourite colour, so I made some little blue tags and stuck them in a row. It was amusing to read the comments on my last card-the one with no sponging on it!! You can relax; I am back to sponging on this one. I sponged two blue inks on a remnant of white cardstock then stamped the image in the same two blues before punching out four little tags. I chose my sentiment then arranged the tags and popped them up to follow the line of the sentiment. As I had no ribbon or embroidery floss the right colour I used multiple strands of cotton thread.
This morning it was -24°C here and we woke up to read that Sydney, Australia had just had a record high temperature of 46°C! We are experiencing one extreme and our families, the other.
Supplies:
Stamps: Inclinations, In my Thoughts (PB)
Inks: Memento Summer Sky & Bahama Blue (Tsukineko)
Also: Blue cotton thread, Tag punch
Heather, your last card was just as lovely as all your cards. Just not what we’ve come to expect from your talented & expert sponging! It’s good you shake us up now & again. This one is more ‘you’ I think. Again, very lovely, and a clever idea with the little tags. TFS
Ah – it’s only 36C here in Perth, WA (on my balcony, anyway), but that’s already far too hot for me (I’m a 28 degree girl). I think we’ve had 46 here before now. Have just come home from cooking BBQ lunch for a hungry set-building crew at our local theatre and that was hot work!
Love your work, by the way, Heather. Have bought quite a few Penny Black stamps since I started following your blog. J
I do hope your family in Sydney is keeping safe from all the fires over there.

Tone on tone…another technique I really want to learn and master! Beautiful work! I never thought of using tags before, they never did anything for me, but with this technique the whole design comes alive. Gorgeous! Please do other techniques than sponging too! Your signature technique always inspires but other ideas will do the same and it is good to have a change of technique….keeps one refreshed! TFS!
I think you got such a deluge of comments about sponging because it shocked us all!!! lol It was beautiful……..as is this card with those lovely tags. Can’t imagine what -24 is like (nor +46 either). Such extremes………

What a beauty. Love the blue on blue. My favourite colour too
Love this! the blue looks fabulous and the strands of cotton look perfect! xx
Phew – I’m relaxed! Don’t let us box you into only one technique – but it is fun to think that we can sometimes identify the cardmaker just by seeing the card! I love the feeling of having a little peek at a scene – the continuity from tag to tag is really pretty! Thanks for playing along with us this week at CASology, Heather!
Thanks for your comment. Your card is gorgeous! I love your work! Your blog is full of inspiration for me!

Stunning … the layer upon layer upon layer is just lovely and the tags and cotton thread add such beautiful dimension! Anita 🙂
Those tags are so much fun and so pretty. Thank you so much for sharing with us this week at CASology!
Heather, another amazing card for CASology this week…I LOVE the blue tags! Thanks for playing along at CASology again!
Lovely card as everand a great idea. Your work inspired me to get out my Cut n Dry.
Neat, creative design using the tags! Like your stamping and inking, as always! 😀
YAY spongeriffical! So lovely. You should enter this in the “Less is More” Friendship Challenge too!
This is stunning! I love how your stamped and inked the tags! Thanks for playing along at CASology!
The little row of tags are so cute! And perfectly arranged over the sentiment. While I am not enjoying this winter storm and cold, I don’t think I’d like temps in the mid-40s either. Plus the terrible fires in some parts of the country.
What sweet little tags!
Your lovely card is like a breath of fresh air!
Hurray for the HM honor from CASology, Heather!! You are (no surprise) nailing the challenges!!
