Watercolour butterflies
Posted: May 29, 2012 Filed under: Delicate Florals, Free Flight, Penny Black 13 CommentsThe Penny Black blog is featuring watercoloured cards today and once again the designers have come up with a diverse selection of styles. My card features watercoloured butterflies. I began by stamping the three butterflies in pale blue. I then applied all the wing colour with watercolour pencils and blended it with water. Next I embossed in gold over the top of the colouring and added a sponged, stamped and watercoloured background with some paint dropped here and there in the colours of the butterflies.
Supplies
Stamps: Free Flight , Delicate Florals, Gratitude (PB)
Ink: Memento Summer Sky, New Sprout, Pear Tart, Bamboo Leaves & Grape Jelly, Versamark (Tsukineko)
Cardstock: Fabriano Hot Pressed watercolour paper, Penny Black Mix & Match Papers Fern Green & Purple Mountain
Also: Gold e.p.

I discovered your blog a few days ago and I love what you do…
“Oh! That’s a beautiful card. I do like that.”
That is a verbatim quote from your mother.

The dark blue (or purple?) matting and green card base really set off your amazing water-coloured beauty, Heather. Wow!
The gold embossing gives a real richness to your pretty watercoloured butterfly Heather and your background is another stunner!
Such unique and interesting techniques. And always so beautiful!!
Beautiful card! Lovely watercoloring. 🙂
Beautiful butterflies. Which did you do first – stamp the background first and then stamped the bflies?
