Just a quick easy card for you tonight. It will be quick to reproduce, which is what I need to do at this stage. It wasn’t that quick to make but that is because I couldn’t decide on the orientation, then I couldn’t decide on the stamp! All you need for this one is two strips of co-ordinating designer paper, a stamp small enough to punch out, a greeting and a piece of cord.
Supplies:
Stamps: Winter Post
Inks: Sage Shadow
Cardstock: Whisper White, Sage Shadow, Wintergreen d.p.
Also: silver cord

To make my easy tags I cut a strip of Old Olive and stuck on a piece of designer paper which was a little narrower so the olive showed at the top and bottom of each tag. I cut vanilla pieces all the same and then punched different corners on a few. All the stamping was done using the very useful little stamps from Holiday Sampler and the To/From out of Winter Post. I drew all my stitching lines on with a fineline pen. When I started these I didn’t even know if I would like them, I don’t usually reach for Old Olive, but I surprised myself and had a lot of fun creating a different design on each one.
Supplies:
Stamps: Holiday Sampler, Winter Post
Inks: Old Olive, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke
Cardstock: Old Olive, Very Vanilla,Petals and Paisleys d.p.
Also: Hemp twine, slit punch, burgandy fineliner
Moonlit Skate
Posted: November 12, 2008 Filed under: Lovely as a Tree, Stamped Landscapes, WInter Post 3 CommentsMy inspiration for this card was a similar card my daughter and a friend of hers designed. When I bought the Winter Post set, I wasn’t sure what to do with the skaters but their idea of a tree lined skating rink definitely appealed to me. I wonder how long before it begins to look like this outside?
To begin I tore a piece of paper to be about the size of the rink which I used to mask the space while I stamped the trees. I stamped the small trees, which are just the top of the tree from Lovely as a Tree, with Night of Navy and versamark. The larger trees in the front I stamped in Basic Black and versamark, then I embossed them all with clear embossing powder. To fill in the forest I stamped the tree over and over in Night of Navy creating some dark and some lighter trees. I stamped the skaters in black and then coloured with some Stamping markers and some watercolour pencils. It is hard to see but there are some skate marks embossed with iridescent ice. The sponging on the ice is Bashful Blue. The moon was an afterthought, embossed with white e.p. The sky was brayered with Brocade Blue, Navy and a little Black.
I realise that a picture or two of the process would be more helpful than all my description here but I just haven’t had time lately to do a tutorial. Some time soon I hope. Thanks so much for dropping in.
Supplies:
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Winter Post
Inks: Night of Navy, Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue, Basic Black Versamark.
Cardstock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy
Also: Clear and white e.p., watercolour pencils, Stamping markers, Blue Taffeta ribbon, Brayer
Simple Snowflake
Posted: October 2, 2008 Filed under: WInter Post 1 CommentThe latest Stamp Simply challenge was 2b Krafty with Janine. I spent some time browsing through Janine’s impressive blog and was inspired by this simple but stylish card. I liked the clean lines and the central image.
Once I decided my card would be a Christmas card a little sparkle seemed like a good idea. I started by stamping the snowflake in Elegant Eggplant and then embossing with irridescent ice. It sparkled a little but not enough so I stamped the versamark pad on the whole rectangle and embossed with irridescent ice again! Unfortunately the camera didn’t pick up the sparkliness very well. The “Season’s Greetings” is stamped in white and then embossed with irridescent ice also. The background is done with three colours of ink stamped and restamped to create different shades.
The finished size of the card is 5½” x 4¼” but I started with a piece of cardstock 4¼” x 12″ and scored it at 5¼” and then 10¾” to make the flap on the right side. Attached to the flap is a 1¼” circle with a slot punched in it to thread ribbon through.
Supplies:
Stamps: ,Many Merry Messages, Winter Post
Inks: Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Craft White, Versamark
Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Whisper White
Also: Eggplant grosgrain ribbon
